The Party Appears To Thrive On Subversive Politics. Be It The Ridiculous Suggestion Of Introducing The Pakistani Currency In The Kashmir Valley, or Its Stance On The Amarnath Yatra Issue Last Year That Fanned Chaos In The State, the PDP Has Not Been A Party That Has Acted Responsibly For The Development Of Jammu And Kashmir And All Of Its People.

A Statutory Body Created By Parliament To Oversee Technical Education Has Fallen Into Such Disgrace That It Will Take A Long Time To Set Things Right Again. Now That The AICTE Itself Is Under Cloud, who Will Rectify The Miserable Situation Existing In A Number Of Technical Institutions?

Sir, it Is Shocking To Note That The Top Brass Of The AICTE Have Been Caught By The Central Bureau Of Investigation On Corruption Charges. The AICTE Is The Regulatory Body For Institutions That Impart Engineering And Technical Degrees. Corruption In That Outfit Partly Explains How So Many Engineering And Technical Institutes With No Credentials And Inadequate Infrastructure Get Certification And Recognition.

Alexander Has Rightly Observed That The Talk Between The Prime Ministers Of India And Pakistan At Sharm El-Sheikh Was A Talk On Substantive Issues At The Summit Level And Not A Casual Exercise In Courtesy (Shoddy Draft Sends Muddled Messages, july 29) . Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Undoubtedly Goofed Up By Agreeing To The Inclusion Of Balochistan In The Joint Statement And The De-linking Of Action Against Terrorism From The Composite Dialogue Process. The Larger Question Now Is Of Safeguarding National Interest. The Congress And The Prime Minister Should Not Make This A Prestige-issue And Nor Should The Opposition Exploit It. The Government Should Heed Mr Alexander ' S Advice And References To Balochistan And Action On Terrorism Must Be Excluded From Any Meaningful Bilateral Discussion In Future.
